COMMUNITY EVENTS FOR 2011

Sunday afternoon concerts are held on the third Sunday of the month, February to November inclusive.   The concerts are held on the Western Lawns in front of Newstead House. While some seating will be available, visitors are asked to bring a folding chair or picnic rug where possible.

Devonshire Teas are available for purchase on Sunday afternoons from 2-4.30pm from to end-November and are served on the verandahs overlooking the Brisbane River and Breakfast Creek.  Please note that last orders are 4pm

Brisbane Municipal Concert Band conducted by David Jones play a high rolling selection of sea themed music.

Bach to Bizet
Sunday, 20 November, 2:00pm

Music to stir the heart and lift the spirit by Amadeus Orchestra playing light classics in the courtyard of Newstead House.

TWILIGHT PROCLAMATION DAY CELEBRATION

... join us in celebrating the 152nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Colony of Queensland.

Date:  Saturday 10 December 2011
Time:  6:30pm to 8:30pm

The Programme will include...

  • Free entry to Newstead House
  • Welcome by Director
  • Lowering of the Queensland Ensign at twilight with members of the 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment forming a Guard of Honour
  • Address by Director followed by Queensland History Quiz for visitors
  • Musical Interlude
  • Complimentary light refreshments
  • Christmas Carols around the 1830s Broadwood grandpiano.
