Weddings and Corporate Functions

Newstead House offers a gracious venue for receptions, weddings, garden parties, corporate functions and seminars, as well as photo shoots, fashion parades, product launches and family celebrations. These are conducted between the hours of  8a.m. and 10p.m. outside normal public visiting times and hire charges are competitive.

Situated in the midst of rolling lawns at the junction of the Brisbane River and Breakfast Creek in the Brisbane suburb of Newstead, historic Newstead House's western lawns are a delightful venue for wedding ceremonies with its formal gardens, bubbling fountain, Victorian bower and wide verandahs (just in case of rain).

Dating from 1846 and described as Brisbane's oldest surviving domestic residence, the Homestead is furnished in the style of the late Victorian period and couples choosing Newstead House for their wedding ceremony are invited to have their special photographs taken within the furnished rooms of the Homestead itself. There is even time for a celebratory drink!

Functions normally take the form of standing buffet or cocktail party with a scattering of chairs and are held either on the cobbled carriageway adjacent to the fountain or on the spacious verandahs. The homestead is opened for the enjoyment of guests and members of the Friends of Newstead Inc are on hand to act as guides. Conditions do apply.

The House lends a sense of dignity to small corporate Conferences and seminars, as well as client receptions and cocktail parties. The adjacent John Oxley Landing may be used for river cruises. Permission to use the Landing is obtained from the Brisbane City Council on 3403 8888.
