Welcome to Historic Newstead House

Brisbane’s oldest surviving residence dates from 1846 when it was constructed for Patrick Leslie who had first settled on the Darling Downs in 1840.  Over the years, Newstead has evolved from a simple Colonial Georgian cottage into a sprawling homestead with intricate balustrade, spacious verandahs and a vista that incorporates the Brisbane River, undulating parkland, elements of the Breakfast Creek Heritage Precinct and the changing suburbs of Hamilton, Bowen Hills, Bulimba and Newstead.

Anzac Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and their gazetted public holidays,
Saturday and a ten-day period between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

HOW TO FIND US
Newstead House is approx. 15 minutes drive by motor vehicle from Brisbane’s CBD.  Brisbane City Council buses pass the entrance to Newstead Park.  Alight at Stop 12 inbound and outbound.  Bus timetable information available from Translink 13 12 30. River City Cruises also cruise to Newstead House twice daily.  Bookings essential on 0428 278 473.   Limited parking in Newstead Park.
